I just love the sound of a big V twin motor on song
Most production 'copies' just sound pants,
but that said some machines come very close.
Take this Harley and this Honda for example.
When you listen very carefully you can still pic out subtle differences.
Listen to the Harley a couple of times first to really get your ear in

Give me a triple triumph engine with nice pipes anytime, bloody gorgeous. Triumph really have captured their own sound with their motors. :D

the only sound to come close to a merlin/griffon in a power-climb.

Loved the sound of the TR1 at full rip with straight thrus. And even the XJ900 divvy trike with downpipes straight into little turnouts. Anything loud really. And I love it when my slabby pops when the revs are dropping.

one of my favourites is Rough tims - Rough Superior

Yep.. haven't heard one in thirty years, but they really sounded as if they meant business....Arial square four 1000 used to sound like an old lorry if you left it running next to a block of flats... :D John

Me mates old BSA Rocket Three sounded pretty damn distinctive, as does a Trident, an old 'un.

A Vmax with race or open pipes, sounds like a V8 on heat! Pushes all the right buttons for me, although like Nik I'm not sure the neighbours agree.

i have alwase had a soft spat for old 750/4 or Z900 full noise threw the oirngnal 4 into 4 pipes. i had a 750/4 with AMEN 4 into 2, 3-1/2" pipes. with out the baffelling in it was brilant. also poped and crackled nicley on over run.

also V4 honders with race pipes. ooooo. heard a VF1000R back in the day with 4-2 straight threw pipes. or have also heard triumph hinkleys and VFR800 with wulf under seat exhaust. now that was nice.

My old speed triple (not the one i sold a few months back) had a 3 into 1 Sebring pipe (the one they used in the speed triple race series). Now that was nice but it would set off car alarms down the street i lived :D

Damn where did you get such a nice sounding honda... my cb125 dont sound as good as that, even when its running on both cylinders! ;)

seriously though i love the sound of most old brit bikes but especially my neighbours 750 bonnie chop with drag pipes and mate at works matchless 500, they rumble and you can feel them as well as hear them.
