Today I went to the motorbike shop. I haven't had a bike this year - my old one got sold at Xmas, and I haven't had chance to find another one 'til now as my Mummy hasn't been very well. [1]
My big brother has been going on about these Hardly MovingSon things since he got one, so I went along to the big shop where they sell them. My big bruv knows what he is talking about as he used to work at one himself!
The man there was very nice, looked a bit like that bloke off the Discovery Channel who has that bike shop called 'Exile'. And it turns out that he used to work for my big bruv, so my big bruv told him to be nice to me or he would come round and duff him up. [2]
After riding a few of their nice bikes, I have pledged my pocket money to him for the next 100 years, and in return he is letting me have one of his nice new bikes. But as he said I was weedy and had long hair he would only sell me a little one [3]. But my bruv says he can sort me out with some things called 'Vance and Hines', 'accelerator Mikuni' and '1200 conversion' so that will show him! [4]
And I can't even ride it now, I am going to have to wait until 1st September for something called a '56 plate'! Boo hoo! :(
But it was a very nice day out anyway.
[1] 6 letter word - starts with 'c'
[2] Dealer principal at HD dealership cut his selling teeth working for my brother, so owes him a favour or two!
[3] 883 R Sportster
[4] won't stop certain people taking the p1ss though... me wife has started already...

He can go to HOG rallies with you now eh!!More work needs to be done first though before I can get my full patch... even though I have already found myself starting each sentence with 'Bro' and ending it with 'Dude'... plus it will take my wife a while to sew all those conchos onto my underpants....
*Must remember to stop waving at other bikers now* :D

strangley i have never had a suzuki, none have made me go wowI've had lots, latterly great big aircooled ones. Ran a website devoted to 'em, which gained me both friends and enemies...
They have, on occasion, made me go 'FUUUUUUUUUUUUU....' and 'OSHIIIIIIIII' due to the acceleration and brakes respectively...
First bites at the Harley takes me back to my early days of (big) biking - bikes that you can actually get yer spanners on - modify - tune... the wife is tonight berating me for looking at stuff to modify it before it's even turned a wheel on the road!
Odd how I have turned from the path of Jap so easily, but there is NOTHING japanese that was made in the last ten years that floats me boat at all.
Is this common? *worried of Cambridge* Or have I been subliminally corrupted by the horrific sight of Nik riding a cruiser in last month's ish...?

is this what your trying to say......
"eye lad they dont make em like they used to when i was a lad."
or "them there modern plastic bikes arnt propa bikes"
or "when we were young bikes looked liked bikes, not a tuppaware party"
my mind is open and when i find what i want to buy next i shall post a picture, if the internet has not been supperceded by then.
what made you get the 883 over the 1200? I hd a 1200Xl stage one'd it went like the clappers .. just didn't have the top end... was a bit uncomfortable two up as well... bloody agile in traffic though.
... I miss her :( I will have another harley.. I may invest in another older one if my insurance pays up for the cbr.

If you take the 883 out to 1200 mate.. it will leave a standard 1200..
The gearing is better for acceleration up to the 100 mark, and thats what counts for everyday riding really... :D
