Ultraseal type tyre stuff

Just stuck two new tyres on me bike.
Intended to stick some of that slime in which keeps you rolling if you get summat stuck in your tyre, cos punctures spoil me day and give me the proper fuckin' hump.
Scanned a HD website, knowing there had been some discussion about it.
On finding the following post, i thought maybe i'd ask on here the useless fucks.
I've heard all the out of balance theories, aint interested.
Just wanna know if anybody's had any first hand experience of it, good or bad, especially in a nail meets tyre situation...

Me bruv swears by it - told me that the back tyre on his 1300 Honda was pretty much dead when him and his wife were out for a ride a coupla weeks ago... got to where he was going and found a blue stripe up the back of his reg plate and inside the 'guard.

Yep - it had popped when he was riding it and had resealed itself without even noticing - a quick check of pressure revealed that it had lost 2psi while doing so.

m8 used that ultraseal stuff in his trike rear tyres,he reckons its brill stuff rode wi it in for 18mths ,had a screw in tyre pulled screw out not flat tyre,,,,that slime stuff from car shops,used on lads pushbike,fukkin orrible yellow stuff,,,thort it was crap taff,,,,,its a bit like wet cotton wool,

I've ude one called OKO in the past with no problems,never had a flat so i guess it worked

I used to use OKO when a courier, because its a thick liquid it spreads itself around inside the wheels, which automatically balances them, I have had up to five punctures in a tyre before noticing any problems, the only problem was overnight the liquid settled into the bottom of the tyre and when cold it took time to spread itself out again. Which made for some interesting handling.

I swear by it and wouldn't go without it. Been using it for years. No way I wanna be feckin about with a Goldwing rear wheel on the side of the road!

Money well spent in my opinion.

When it first came out in the sixties it was called Finilec and it was great If you got a flat you could pump it in and it would blow up the tyre. Then you could ride it to the nearest air pump and give it more pressure. It always said on the can that it was a get you home only thing, But it was great stuff for us hard up bikers. this new stuff is probably the same.John

I've used the red (now blue?) Ultraseal stuff in bike and quad tyres for years, on my bikes and son's.

It does exactly what it says on the bottle, but you need to check tyres regularly for nails etc.


Used the green goop stuff (cheaper) a couple of times. Absolute crap.

I could have done with that stuff in Mrs R's tyre a few months ago, when I rode it home from work...

I got a rather large piece of flint stuck in the tyre - too big for a normal mushroom patch, so it had to have that in, plus a tube!!

brand new tyre as well (to us anyway - we got it off a bloke who had hardly used it on his GS) :(

Never used the preventitive slime stuff but my mobile tyre man hates it. Makes a right mess inside apparently.

I did have cause to use on of those instant fix cans. Came off the A1 after a blat and soon realised I had a problem. Tyre was just about completely flat. One can later it inflates the tyre and holds for a recommended 50 miles. Probably too bulky an item to carry on a bike as a 'just in case tho'.

Yep i've used the tyreweld/finilec lurdsa times, gets you home, then the tyre faced bastard fixy man waint touch it cos his glue dont set.
Its this wonder, had 6 punctures today but dint stop to see what it was stuff i'm interested in.
Sounds like blue ultraseal's the way forward so far.
And green stuff's made by puncture repair men to put you off it for life so they stay in business.

Used the prurple stuff once before.
Got a nail in a pratically brand new tyre - done about 200 miles.
Pulled the tyre out, and it went flat!
Read the leaflet, and it said fully money back guarentee - got nothing! :mad:

ultraseal..............im typeing this becasue of it............but stops ikkle leaks but lets major leaks go down slowly......excellent supposed to make type last longer too.

I've put the green goo in my tyres for a bit now but I never seem to grt a puncture when I have the goo in ......when I have a new set of tyres before I put the goo in it picks up nails and alsorts...must have magic qualitys... :cool:

I've got my back wheel in the car waiting for tyre delivery. I dug out a 1.5 inch triangle of metal from the tyre, with only a point sticking out.
Fair enough, I wouldn't expect ultraseal be a permanent fix for that, but if it is a thick liquid, then won't the tyre leak when the punture is positioned at the top of the wheel?

The way it works is this, the liquid covers the inside of the tyre while spinning, this self balances the tyre, which is a good thing, when you get a puncture the liquid is forced out by centrifugal force, which sets and plugs the hole leaving a telltale blue/yellow marker. I think it works on holes upto 1.5 mm but I have had it get me home after a coach bolt went through the rear tyre. It does not run back out of the hole if you leave it with the puncture upwards.
