basically its a key fob that takes over your ignition barrel so u can start your bike by the fob, but it is also an alarm and imobbiliser in it to. very good system just brought 2, got 1 for sale now if any 1 is intresed.

i know of these things and i must say i would'nt fit one myself...............the reason why is because you frequency can be scanned and reprogrammed into another fob, so someone could possibly go up to your bike whilst you are in....lets say the shop, and ride of with it........bit of a fucker to explain to the insurance..............just a thought

take care with the installation of one of them units.

one of the guys in the club had one fitted to his virago, and the bloke who mounted it managed to bypass the clutch cutout. when he demonstrated it in front of the bar, he had left it in gear (as spaniards habitually do), started the bike which ran forwards a couple of meters before falling over.

he disconnected the remote start shortly afterwards.....

That's the only problem wi' them really - you must have a side-stand cut-out switch or a very good memory. Sadly, I have neither so I've missed out on the pleasures of having a remote starter and I really want one. :(

ain`t that difficult, if you loose yours or the battery goes dead and you got a spare 1 at home, just phone ya mate up on the mobile, get em to press the button to switch off the alarm while holding it next to the phone, and you just hold ya mobile close to the car.
easy peasey

I've got an Astrodon remote start/alarm fitted to the Wing.
It's connected through the sidestand switch so no mistakes in starting.
You can use the normal ignition key in case your fob battery dies and the steering lock stops worries about someone scanning and riding off on it... The talking warning sounds a bit garbled though.
It's been on for 3 years and given me no problems to date.

a lot of top alarms and imobilisers for cars have em, when i used to go to college loads of the chavs had em on their novas and corsas, used to use these remotes to switch on the engine, initiate neon sequences and all sorts of random stuff :p

bit of chain from down the docks and a hoooge padlock will do me ;)

Just brought something of the same ilke myself, mine also has a remote shut off so if you see anyone riding off on it you hit the stop key and the engine dies, throwing the rider off no doubt but at least there on the floor already to except the steel toe cap to the teeth.

I was seriously considering getting one of these remote alarm, start, safety imobiliser toys and I have just come to my senses, I have enough trouble reading every week that another biker has been killed or injured by ordinary accidents but now picture this...You buy and fit one of these new toys from ebay,(about £18) and so do 100s of other people. Someone else pushes their stop switch accidently as you drive past, and your bike, which happens to be on the same frequency, cuts out The car/lorry behind you doesn't see any brake lights and plows into you. Or worse still someone does it on purpose. Now at the moment this may not happen, but as more and more people buy them the odds are increasing and it will happen....So I've decided that I will be thankfull that I don't have a kickstart on my bike, and stick with my magic electric starter motor. After all whenever I start my bike without getting on it first, I accidently twist the throttle as I mount it. :D John

As I grew up riding sh1te old bikes, it never surprises me any more if the bike I'm riding dies for no apparent reason. :D
