Probably an Evo motor mate... It sounds like a 1200 sportster. When you have the pic, pop it up here and lets take a look at it mate.

Hope its what you want...good luck with it.. :D

Check out the stars before and after the harley engine number, notoriously difficult to reproduce convincingly.
If they look different to a kosher one, it's cos they aint.
If it sits in a recess in the aliminium, as opposed to right on the same surface as the rest of that part of the motor, however professional it looks, its been machined out and restamped.

yep, yer right there, but some fucksticks do still try!

had my first ringer in here last year. it was allegedly a fat boy, and the owner bought it in for a general once over just after he bought it.
as soon as i saw it there was something not quite right. the frame was a softtail standard frame with the vin plate mangled and riveted on badly enough to rattle. the headstock nšs were partly erased and out of line, and when i was cleaning the area to check, the paint came off revealing chemical metal underneath. the best was the engine nšs. they looked like they had been stamped by stevie wonder! wibbly wobbly line and deffo not harley stamps. i had a mate in the guardia civil run a back door check for me and the nšs came back clean, but this one was obviously a clone.

when the owner to came and get the bike out of here and i showed him the suspect areas(i have a LOT of coppers that come as clients and social calls, therefor iffyness is not an option for me even if i wanted, which i donīt ) he got the real arse because i wasnīt going to touch the bike, to the point that he was pretty well saying it was my fault that heīd bought a dodgy bike!

anyways, i sent him on his way telling him to get in contact with the guardia civil and go and get his money back first from the seller. if he did or not, i dunno, cos i aint seen him here again

right, just been thinking about this, and there might be a reason for the engine swap.

the first of the evo sportsters that came out in around `86 (883 & 1100) were 4 speed boxes with chain drive. put in basic terms, the early evo sportster 4 speed boxes were pants and gained a bit of a rep for being a bit fragile. the later 5 speeders with the belt were far superior.

so if one of the prievious owners wanted a bit more go and/or had wrecked the original box, it wouldnīt be illogical.

i quite like the 1200 sporty. slim, fun machine for city hooliganism :D

It's possible that it's an 883, bored out to 1200.
I may be wrong, but i reckon that a factory 1200 of that year had factory black heads and barrels, the 883 was bare ally.

Black barrels and polished top of the head with balck strip through the middle, cant remember what thats bit called but basically if stripping the top end down the head was ally, next bit black, then ally, then black barrels, well my 89 was and that was bog standard.
