Does anyone know where I can get hold of fork shrouds. I am looking for a similar set up as that used on the Highway Hawk advert, the orange XV.
Also is there any reason not to use wide wheels on a trike.

wide wheels on the rear of a trike are for looks mainly. a front engined trike bike or car engined does not put down much weight through the rear tyres, if you have 295's for instance then the weight per square inch on the contact patch of the tyre is very little. this can and usually will make itself known in rain when theres a lot of water on the road and you will run a risk of aquaplaning. rear engined trikes are less likely to plane. due to the extra weight over the rear wheels, but if a rear engined trike does plane on a bend that extra weight works against you and it takes a lot more effort to get it back under control.
wide rear tyres and a narrow front tyre can also cause another problem, namely understeer.

but then all you have to do is make allowances, know the limits of your machine and your skill.
do you need wide wheels on a trike? no!
do i use wide wheels on a trike? yes! :) :)

Yeah, I've 265s on the rears and a 120 up front and had very noticable understeer at first. Somewhere between turning damping on the rear shocks and tweaking tyre pressures the understeer reduced to an acceptable level.

Out of interest, what make/model of tyres you using front and back?

I'm on Dunlop Sportmax II D204F 120/70ZR17 front, Mastercraft Avenger G/T 265/15R50 rear.

I'm guessing your 295s are Coopers.

Thanks for that Dracken1, reason I ask about width of rear wheels, I intend to fit Indian style fenders so that they cover most of the tyre, but I didn,t want them to end up looking too big & bulky.

Freak, yes I would definitely be intersted in your fork shrouds but do you know if they will fit any forks and are they full length. I don't have any forks yet for my goldwing trike project, just liked the look of the Highway XV front end, so if they are usable I,ll get forks to suit. Many thanks.
