Just wondering what the beast route to go down here, bearing in mind this is my 1st chop. If I do buy some where would the best place to go and how much would they cost (roughly, I'm using cb900 running gear). Or are they fairly easy to make. Any help would be much appreciated as I'm not the sharpest tool in the box (but what I lack in brains I more than make up for in enthusiasm).

even basic alloy forwards from an italian company will cost about £180.00

i don't know if 100% mag has ever done a feature on making your own.
but i do have an article here in an american chopper mag on the very subject.
i could scan and send it to you.
a lathe is handy if your making your own.
unless you go for cds tube slid over some solid bar stock

what i meant was that the italian company rizlo or something like that make
them. they are polished alloy.
which when you see the design, will not be easy to keep highly polished.

Being skint, I've had this idea (much groaning from Mrs R!!!! :D )

Would it be feasible to make a set of forward controls out of a set or Rearsets from a sportsbike? especially if they come up dirt cheap on Ebay?

Cheers Yoda, that's what I like to see, real world customising on a budget!!

Once the initial outlay on the levers/pegs has been sorted, there's only the lengths of bar and (depending on how you're going to set it up) hosing for the back brake.

Simple!

Oh yeah! cheers mate, forgot as the email came to my MAG NC email address – which I read at both home and work (how sad is that!!!) and if I read it here (at work, yep, still here) I can't forward it home.

Might also be worth trying an american m/c forum www.msgroup.org who had someone making their own fwd controls albeit for a virago you might be able to adapt it.
Its on the technical/maintenance section.
Good luck should be fun trying

cheers, any pics and tips are greatly appreciated. I wasn't expecting any more response on this so I find these postings a great surprise, especially the rearset canibalisation (coz it looks really straightforward). Now I just need to get the cb900 running so I can take it apart and then figure out if I'm gonna widen the back of the chop frame for the fireblade wheel, or fit that to me streetfighter and use the gixer wheel on the chop (coz it'll fit straight in as opposed to the blade one)
