Im not sure if we've mentioned this one before, Mrs R's bike's got this alarm system on there for some reason. We don't know how to operate it as we haven't been given a key or anything. It does drain the battery causing some of Mrs R's starting problems - this we've figured out thanks to ChrisP's article

It's a TRS100 (if that rings any bells) - a little black box under the left sidepanel with loads of wires going out to it.

We're trying to figure out the best way to remove the alarm without fecking up the wiring - I understand something has been bypassed, but I don't know what as there is a load of spaghetti that isn't part of the standard GT750 wiring loom.

Would we be better off replacing the wiring with an original wiring loom? We are also looking to move the ignition lock and starter switch back to their original positions (instead of under the seat where they are now)

In a word,YES !!

It would probably be less of a headache to just swap in another loom.

Ah, alarms. Ain't they wonderful!
Ripped the Datatool one out of my Speed Triple a while back. Bloody thing set itself automatically as soon as I took the key out of the ignition. I'd pull into a petrol station & by the time I'd got my gloves off it'd be set, then beep like mad when I opened the cap. Also imobilised the ignition. Started playing up & eventually left the bike stranded with no way of starting it -fortunately outside my house & not halfway up a motorway somewhere. Bike came with a bypass multi pin plug that replaced the alarm when you took it off. Absolutely no idea which wires it bypasses though. For full story of my alarm hassle go to the site below, Forums, messages, "Alarming Problem".

You might find some help here: http://www.kawasakigtclub.com/ there is a technical help section which has a partial wiring diagram showing the starter cut out circuit.

As most of you know I had a bad smash in 2001 and as a result the alarm failed, fortunately after we got it back. I had three weeks to fix it before riding down to Faro. I took a live feed from the ignition switch and fed it directly to the live side of the solonoid that is operated by the alarm (datatool). The result is this, when the ignition is turned on the solonoid is activated and the fuel pump works. This is the immobiliser, the alarm was wankered anyway, so no siren etc. When the insurance got the bike 5 weeks later, they spent 9 months trying to 'repair' the alarm system, till I told them about the bypass. They finally changed it. If you are going to remove it a loom transplant is the4 best bet, or a wiring wizzard.
