DONT forget to get the bike sorned before you road tax runs out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

send it in about 1 month early......

After 31st dec 2004 there will BE NO exceptions... you will just have to pay the fine

They've just sent me a sorn form for a bike I sold in September. I also have a letter dated October informing me that the log book has been transferred to the new keeper. Aint our civil servants wonderfull
'Tain't the civil servants, mate,it's the sh1te computer systems the Treasury foists upon us.My dept has at least four separate computer systems, and 95% of the time they don't talk to each other. Not much fun for us when somebody phones in and rants big style because we couldn't deal with their problem in 5 seconds.
Sorry,rant mode off.

The scumbags are wanting to bring in a £4.75 charge to sorn a vehicle soon. Mrs R's sprog almost got done for not sorning his CM125. As soon as Mrs R advised them that he had moved out and not forwarded his mail to the new address as he was living in digs, they let him off otherwise he would have been done £80!!

I got a letter yesterday with a fine notice.
Wrote back pinting out that after i moved house they lost my logbook after 6 weeks, then sent out not a new logbook but a request for some money as a fee for a lost logbook.
At last they sent out the logbook but without any SORN documents that i asked for.Phoned again and was still waiting for docs when the fine arrived.

my advice, for all big companies, don't just ring em, follow up with a letter, and ALWAYS give em a deadline to reply

funny how if you send em a letter saying, you have 14 days to sort this out or I will seek legal advice, usually works well.

plus a letter is hard evidence, a phone call isn't, even if they recorded it...!

I usually send em letters written on the back of the stoopid letters they send me (photocopy of course) so they can see exactly what their computer has sent out

and is it me or is it getting worse?

I got had for a cage we had a while ago, eight weeks waiting for the docs and they wanted the fine for the non-sorned period . After a lengthy fone call i say fine take it to court, i am on social and you can have it in silly installments.

Well as the other half now has a law degree she checked it out on one of her law sites and it is a "Strict Liability Fine", in other words you pay up, no excuse no installments no exceptions (so say).

How some of you got a way with it puzzles me coz i argued till i was blue in the face.

The DVLA aer wonderful at losing things. sent my licence application to them in september -the 2 year grace period on my test certificate is over in february, so i thought I had plenty of time to sort it. yup! still waiting.
ooh, and I ain't a chat virgin no more!
