View Full Version : Finding alternative tyre size options?

Currently using a 120/70 ZR 17 Dunlop on the front of a trike (Suzuki GSX-R1100 wheel) and wondering what the options are, if any, for a wider type on the same wheel. I assume the Suzuki wheel is a 3.5" rim.

All the online tyre size comparison sites I've checked are for cars and so won't cover tyres narrow than 145.

I'm not too concerned about minor differences in circumference with new tyres as my speedo is driven off one of the rear half-shafts.

Any ideas what wider tyre sizes would safely fit on the existing wheel? Would 150/60 ZR 17 be much larger or smaller circumference?

Hi,

The diameter of a 120/70 17 is 600mm and the recomended rim is 3.5

The diameter of a 150/60 17 is 612mm and the recomended rim is 4.25.

The diameter of a 140/60 17 is 600mm and the recommended rim is 3.75

A 3.5 rim is acceptable for a 140/60 17 and 150/60 17 if a crossply or bias belted tyre is fitted.

Cheers

Chris
