As I've mentioned previously, both mine and mrs R's bikes need new batteries (due to the shytey weather conditions round here and my bike's weird horn set-up).

As they are Kwak GT750s, the official line is to get a YB14LA2.

They range in price from £23 up north, to £50 round here...

However, they never last more than two years, as the quality is often shyte to say the least - the last one I bought at a proper 'battery suppliers' in Hailsham, the positive post has sunk into the battery by about 6 or 7mm, which has rendered it useless.

John Hopkins mentioned recently about how he got a gel battery for his GT.

Does the battery have to be a 14 amp/hour battery or can it be something else - higher amperage obviously?

What are the options for a long lasting battery that don't break the bank?

If you know someone in the biz or have a friendly supplier measure yer battery and see what else (higher amperage obviously) would fit.Mebbe ask the folk who do gel batteries, cos it'd be cheaper in the long run (Sam Vimes Boots theory...... :D )

Failing Yuasa, Deta is a good quality compromise. For top quality Red Top or Odysessy.
