I was given a proper motorbike bulb horn as a leaving pressie when I left the paper earlier this year (I think it might have been a joke...) - is it legal for MOT purposes?

Unfortunatley not anymore - horns have to be electric these days.

Shame, I had a bulb horn on me old Suzuki X5 years ago, was a bit of a laugh

A motor bicycle first used before
1 August 1973 may be fitted with a bulb
horn.

but the bit I like is

A motor bicycle may be fitted with a
bell. gong or siren [but not a two tone horn) only as an anti-theft device. LOL

I'm now imagining someone fitting a bloody great brass gong onto a set of ape-hangers :D :D
