Just been browsing shiny bits for my bike when I came across a set of fork extensions - the ones that screw between your fork cap and existing fork tube to lengthen them.
Wouldn't that handle like crap though? Surely the rake would have to be changed to allow for any increase in tube length?
Apologies if its a bone question but I'm still getting my head around these things :o

Ooooh!
Controversy.....
Changing the rake and so on is a bit here and there. It'll make difference, how much difference depends on how much longer the forks end up. That's not the controversy.
Screw in extensions aren't a good idea. That's not what the thread in the top of the fork leg was meant for.
I think they're dangerous, other people have different ideas. Some (though admittedly not all...) of them can be contacted using a Ouija board......

Ooerr. I wasn't trying to cause hassle. I thought I'd heard that extending the fork length alone without doing anything else was a bad idea. The particular extension kit I'd seen was 2" extra - would that make a marked difference?

2" shouldn't make a lot of difference to the handling, if you think about it it's probably no more of a change in the bikes attitude than having a fat friend sat on the back with the rear pre load on soft.
Still going to make it look a bit "uphill" though.
It's the actual extensions I don't like the idea of.

Hi there,
If you just want longer forks without breaking the bank, here's how.
Motorcross bike forks or custom version of the same engine.
ie I have a gt750 and lts(or even Ltd) forks fit and are longer.Stanchions fit into my sliders just needed longer brake hose,throttle/clutch and switch wiring-loads of fun.
Well worth finding a decent breaker and take your verniers along
cheers

Extentions and barge pole in the same sentence comes to mind...
