you miss-read it, it's 1700mm wide ;)

if it's over 1300mm wide, it needs 2 front white outline marker lights, max 400mm in from the widest point, (usually put on rear 'guards, facing forwards), and a 'tell-tail' light to show they're on, this can be the speedo light tho....

Cheers Rob,

Arachnid - MSVA splits trikes into motorcycle trikes (single front wheel m/c type steering suspension) and others (carcycles as I call them).

Bike trike definition has nothing to do with the engine as some peeps think. C90 to jag V12 still a bike trike if the single wheel is at the front and you have handle bars.

We got got a dispensation from DfT to allow motorcycle trikes to be 1700mm wide before they had to have two headlamps. Others still have the 1300mm limit which applies to ALL trikes that have EC type approval (think Rewacos etc).

We also got a dispensation that allows m/c trikes to retain m/c style independant front and rear brakes and not have them operating off just the foot pedal.

If you have any questions about MSVA bung them in the top sticky on the workshop forum, it's where I tend to look first.

Good luck getting the project on the road.

(Can't believe I wrote a whole post without mentioning plastic maggots :D oh bugger I just did ;) )

Cheers

Chris
