Me Bandit 12's going to be needing a new camchain before long. No problem about fitting it as I've got a mate who can help, but can anyone recommend a good supplier and how much the chain should cost? Am I better just ordering a standard one from me local Suzuki dealer, or is there something/somewhere better I could use?

Seems pricey, anyone any ideas?

Also, is hyvo a particular make orr just a type? If there's more than one type does anyone know what type I need?

You could try M&P - about £65 for a Bandit 12.

Had some less than great experiences with them in the past but might be worth a shot if I can't find cheaper - cheers.
How many miles has it done?

A little over 32K - sounds like the camchain's getting ready but probably OK for a bit. Would still like to get it done before too long though as I can't give it too much stick just in case.

Check the tensioner ain't sticking first.....

Good idea - how many miles do you reckon a camchain should go for then?

Found this also -
Hyvo camchain 150
Genuine Hyvo camchain for the Bandit 1200. Endless.
Price: £24.70 (Excluding: VAT at 17.5%)
On this site: http://www.debben.co.uk/acatalog/N1200.html
Will see if the tensioner's stuck first though. Still running fine, I've been told it doesn't need doing urgently, but like I said I'd like to get it done before the spring.

that chain is less than i can buy it in for, might be worth while getting the brand name of it.. the ones i supply are "d.i.d"

Did wonder about the price Dracken, particularly as from what I've seen on here your prices seem pretty decent. I'll see what I can find out. I'm assuming Hyvo ain't the make?

Just emailed Debben to ask what make their camchains are.

hyvo is the type of chain,as opposed to roller :)
some no name brands are real ****e . i've had bikes come in because thier brakes are shuddering, and we find that the cheap ebay no name brake pads have worn the disc away due to them being so abrasive. or the cbr600 owner who was very upset because his ebay no name drive chain lasted 800 miles :)

That's the kind of thing that worries me - I've got a cheap n nasty (drive) chain & sprockets on at the moment and it's absolutely crap - needs adjusting too frequently, very uneven wear etc, so there's no way I'm going to put any old shít in me engine.
I've always heard Debben have a very good rep, but you're right - that camchain does seem a little too cheap maybe. Awaiting their reply as to what make it is.

But if it's endless you have to do a complete engine strip to fit it,thereby negating any savings.

Makes sense to me Dougie - I wasn't keen on the idea of an endless one for just that reason.
Anyone know how far you need to strip it to check the tensioner, and how to fix it if it's sticking as has been suggested? Is it the case that I might as well change the chain while I'm in there, or is it a smaller job?

I know that on the GS series the tensioner lives on the back of the barrels under the carbs so you've got to remove them then undo 2 or 3 bolts (depending on model) and the tensioner comes away nicely, but no idea about the Bandit. The GS tensioner is easy to strip and clean but again don't know about the Bandit.Don't think it'd be too hard.

Well I suppose the Bandit/Gixer motor comes from the GSX which comes from the GS, so it may well be similar. Will have to have a look at me Haynes jokebook :D
