Hullo folks ...

Just put a set of mini apes on my Dragstar 650, tightened everything up, started the bike, and the lights have decided to not work. My indicators are working, so is my brake light, but my headlight and rear light are both out.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be really grateful for any pointers. Checked the fuses - all is well there.

Thanks very much :)

have ya checked wires in the handlebar/light switch?
If ya been tugging em about might have just come out/off.

Thanks very much for the replies folks. Checked inside the switch housing, everything looked ok, all still soldered and connected. Checked the fuse, thats ok too.

I'm guessing a connection has come apart under the tank ...

Turn the lights on run a jumper lead from the frame to the earth connection on the headlight..if the light comes on you have to remake the earth...if not do the same from the plus battery to the live connection...if it works you have a broken lead or a blown fuse...move the lead back to the switch to make sure it is ok...John

The only connection between the two lights is the ignition switch.

Try there..

Grand, thanks for all the info and help. Been tied up last night with work, so I'll have a ferrett around tonight and see what I can find.

Interesting about the ignition switch Gothtec, seems as good a place to start as any :)

I made one out of an old idiot light connected clips either end.Saves no end of guesswork.

Guess everything was fine before you moved/swopped the bars.

Do wires reach switchgear without stretching?

Could of pulled spade connector inside switch block.

Have you got power across the fuse?

Once pushed Z1R several miles cuz filament broke inside of fuse.

My best guess would be the wiring 'tween ign switch and light on/off switch.

good luck

Drew

The front and rear lights run on separate circuits that connect at the ignition, if its not that then check your earths...

Thanks folks - all fixed now :D

It was just a couple of wires had come out of the plastic connectors, obviously when I'd been buggering about with them while fitting my handlebars.

Thanks for the advice all, its much appreciated.
