Hi to all, not been on here for a while but have a few questions that i need an answer to, and i know that peeps here have good advice and spot on answers. Also sorry if this post is in the wrong place, seemed like the best place for it. :) So here we go, I have a trike, Yamaha XS1100. It is registered with DVLA as a tricycle and is on its 1979 plate. Been mot`d a good number of times but has been on a sorn for nearly 3 years. Now here are the questions. :)

1. Will it pass an mot with the handbrake operating on only one rear wheel, it`s how it was built and has passed a good few mot`s in the past. I know that now they want a mechanical operated brake on all the wheels on one axel, does this apply in retrospect??.
2. Does it now need hazard lights fitted to it, again it passed without them in the past. Again i know that now they want hazards fitted to all new build trikes, does this also apply to mine??.
And there you have it, pretty easy questions to answer if your in the know.
Looking forward to responses.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
TrikerBoab.

one wheel ok

Hand Brake- yes you do need one, and it only has to brake on one wheel (preferebly the near side one) not too sure why but thats what I was told
locking up nearside rear wheel stops it going into road if some one twat's it .

Hazards fraid you need them

hope that helps

Drew

Great answer, straight to the point and good for me as fitting hazards is a breeze but the handbrake would be a pain.
Thanks.

From the manual

Vehicles first used before 1 April 1986

A hazard warning device is not required by Regulation, but if one is fitted, it must be tested.

So if your on a 79 plate you shouldn't need hazards

Cheers
