Hi Folks,
This is only my second post (had a go at the song title thread first), Just wanted to say 'hello' and ask for a bit of advice.
I've just bought a Rover SD1 trike project (stop laughing at the back!) and I would like to know if anyone knows a: where I could find a manual for the engine, b:if there is a good trike frame welder in Bristol, c: if anyone knows of a metal fabricating wizard that could build me a petrol tank and finally, d:what I've let myself in for !!
All help greatly appreciated
Cheers
Fido

Which engine is it? I had an SD1 many moons ago and will have a look see if I still got the haynes book for it. May take a while though as it will be at me pops house if anywhere.
I cant remember if the book covered the 6 and 8 cylinder engines or one ar the other.

It's the 2.6 straight 6. I've tried on-line but can't seem to find any info.
Cheers for the reply.

Ok, I had the 2.3 straight 6 so they cant be all that much difference.
I will have a look next time I am there. If the engine section aint too big I can scan and email it to you. If its massive, you can have the book for postage.
This is assuming I can find it mind.

no wish to offend. but they are the pits of an engine. even rover don't like to talk about them. they would warp the head at the wink of an eye. which would cause the cam to knock or even snap :(

The secret to those engines is to keep the oil clean and never, NEVER run them hot. Use an engine flush on every oil change to keep the oilways open because they didn't exactly over engineer them, they get junked up, restrict the oil flow to the cam and the next thing you know the pistons and valves are as one. Follow the instuctions, do a propper job and use a good quality replacement engine oil. The SU carbs can be fettled with and once you got the whole thing balanced up they're quite a revvy motor.
