but its bound to go pear shaped so i was wondering if any one could recomend a shop etc.
i have noticed though, that when i try spraying things the wall always looks better. so im gonna spray the wall with the bike next to it lol.

If that's a misprint, I've got a mate who sprays sheep, Sometimes he dresses them up too

You've heard of Mutton dressed as Lamb... :D John

Paint costs, more or less, what paint costs.

The real cost of a paint job is in the preparation, which is very time consuming.

So the obvious way to keep the cost down is skimping on prep. This usually means, an "orange peel" finish, chips that haven't been rubbed out and show through, and the new paint flaking and lifting due to lack cf attention to detail with sanding and cleaning off paint residue from the sanding process.

On the other hand, I've seen that with "proper" jobs, and if someone's keen, they may well prep it right despite charging a low price.

Just so you know. :D

cheers blackjack.
well i will be doing the sanding etc. i can manage that part :) . i think the main problem i have is patience with the spraying. oh and time. i did want it powder coating as the chop is my every day transport etc. but they cant paint over the moulding. i think its gonna be a case of me learning to do it. ive been offered a compressor and stuff aswell. just need to set the tent up i think and have some fun

In all seriousness, having done £3K+ "paint" jobs on cars (and that was 20 years ago!) patience with the spraying isn't the problem.

It really is having the patience to prep it right.

well if you want to throw any tips my way. it would be extremely apreciated. but what ever happens at the end of the day, at least i have tried. it cant be any worse then how it looks right now. rust and stone chips ect. failing that i can ask my 4 year old daughter. shes good at painting lol

A mate of mine had the panels for his Daytona sprayed by the kids at the local motor technology college.

They did a cracking job and all he had to pay for were the materials. The whole bike cost him £50. :)

Might want to find out where your local college is and ask?

As Blackjack sais, it is all in the prep, what you feel is what you'll see, remember that anything shiney has to be non shiney and deep rubbing down marks will look ****e.

If you were closer i could do you a nice price.
