Legal definitions:-
1) If the operator is inside OR astride the vehicle and it is operating under it's own power (ie the engine is running) then the operator is DRIVING,
2) If the operator is inside or astride the vehicle and it is moving WITHOUT the engine running then the operator is RIDING.
It's in the statute books and has been used as a technical defence point by lawyers who know their stuff.

I do 4 wheels in the shape of a VW fox in winter as the constant salt and dampness destroys any decent motorcycle......I'm a bit older and can afford this ....If the choice comes as I had to get a Car Licence to get on in the Job......and will use the car in winter to not make my bikes a pile of crap.I have done winters on bikes including riding on the hard shoulder for 20 miles back from work on a 400/4 in 3" of snow with all the police cars passining me just waved me on and making hand signals to stay there.....

The Trike was done as well even though it was registered as a Car in the UK ....50 euros each .. I was riding a sporty with headlights on all the time .....I had to talk to the rest of the guys even though they say no english some of the Swear words work and shut it as these Guys have guns...

I guess that means that 'under British law' we all drive motorbikes...I wonder what they do abroad?...I mean you could start driving a vehicle in Britain and be riding it when you got to France, then 'depending on the law of the countries that you pass through,' you could be riding through some and driving through others without even getting off your bike... :D John

You are welcome. Glad you like it.
Sorry I can't promise you a tree in Tredegar. It seems to be Jens (the primeminister) who deals with trees round the world. But you never know........(?) :)
