Is there any reason why a trike can't have a full roll cage type spaceframe?

Ideas please, gentlefolk

It sounds like a very sensible idea to me..they used to make dune buggy's like that, so I can't see any reason why you shouldn't...John

I think this may be the same trike in it's current state. It belongs to a friend of mine and I know it once belonged to an NCC member.

It currently has a Peugeot 1.9 Diesel engine; a Mercedes Auto Gearbox and TR7 rear axle.

The matching 'caravan' was built from the left over bodyshell of a Reliant after being de-axled for a trike. It uses trailer independant suspension units and has a box section chassis. It is wired to charge up a battery from the tow bar for camping lights etc. (a bit like a teardrop caravan - but much more stylish ;) )

Too right KKM - He took it over to the Welsh National in May (as did one of my other mates who has one too) and whilst the rest of us froze our asses off they were toasty inside with their gas stoves - even bragged about having to open the windows to cool down a bit  Anyone who was there will tell you that the Saturday of the show was wintry cold and wet.

Basically its a Reliant shell on a Box Section chassis with trailer suspension units, a plywood floor and bulkhead where the front of the car has been cut off. Fully lined with carpet using spray glue and is easily big enough to sleep 2.

He's had it for about 8 years now Rob and had done his own mods (leading links, engine/gearbox set up Blue flasing light on the back ;) etc.) It still goes like **** off a shovel (even though it's twist and go) and holds the road and handles really well. You do tend to bash your head off the roll cage though (especially passengers) but he likes it the way it is.
