I am looking to lay my hands on a bit of stainless bar.

It needs to be a minimum of 80mm diameter and about 8-10" long.

I have tried local engineers round here and no joy.

I am willing to pay the going rate and the postage if any one can help.

Many thanks in advance.

theres a couple a peeps who do the rounds at auto jumbles called mail order metals, based somewhere in Notts. I see them regularly at newark but they generally do pennyfarthing Fairs (http://www.penny-farthing-fairs.co.uk/flash.html) for dates of next jumble

Hmmm.

If you only need about 8 or 10 inches, try looking up Durbin Metals in your local phone book. My local branch(es) sell off cuts, and it's all graded and sized so a trip there for what I want is usually quite painless and quick.

Though 80mm is quite chunky ...........

durbin are a good company although as of yesterday all there offcuts have been added back into the computer system :( , so they now weigh the buggers and charge you the going rate.
