Has anyone got a copy of the above diagram (it's the one which isn't in the Haynes Kawasaki Air-Cooled Fours manual - the Zephyr era GT). Just trying to decipher yet another switchgear
I've got a six-wire connector block and a five-wire. The five is sorted as their wires are the same as (and they correspond to) the P5 (and the z750 L4 diagram is similar).
the three wires I've got are (if standard P5/L4 colours are anything to go by):
Red/Yellow = dip switch
Brown = Headlamp flasher
Red/Black = dip switch and headlamp flasher
The three I can't fathom are:
Blue:
Black:
Black/Brown
still doing my nut!! Might have to send this one back (got it from a breakers - they've agreed to take it back) but I'd rather make do.

Open the switch see where they go, another idea, has it got a clutch cut out, My ST has cut out witch in the clutch lever but wiring travels down to the left hand switch gear block.

I reckon it's the same thing... as there are three wires going to a 3-pin block, the same as on the P5.

does that mean you've got it sorted

drewno! :( gods... if I had... I wouldn't be posting!!
On the latest switchgear I've just bought, I've got two wires less than I have on the original P5 version. It's got one five wire connector and one six (plus the usual three on the starter cutout switch that plugs into the handlebar) instead of the 9 and four.
This time there are no hazard switches, etc. to further befuddle me :D
My first post mentioned that I've got some of the wires matched up to their P5 equivalents (by way of some doodles), there are just some that are different colours.

During the early to mid nineties some manufacturers started fitting "lean angle" sensors. This sensor was wired trough the kill switch to cut the engine if the bike reached an extreme angle,ie if the bike was dropped.
Don't know if the switch you have is from such a model.
But why not wire it up with the wires you know to be correct, then check all the electrical functions, see what does'nt work. With a £10 multimeter you should be able to figure out the rest of the wires.
The worst you can do is blow a fuse ;)

I just had a look inside the new one and there are a lot less wires (for example, on the indicator switch inside, there are only three, not five wires).
Might have a shufty later, to see what's missing... process of elimination and all that :D

Ok, this thread's done with as I've sorted out the switchgear I had.
There are two wires in the P5, which aren't in the P6 as they got a bit smarter at Kawasaki!
The two wires in question are the Indicator Controller and the Distance Sensor. Inside the old switchgear is a little magnetic stator that turns off the indicators after a given distance, which has to be powerful enough to move the switch to the off position.
The other three wires I couldn't decipher were those belonging to the starter cutout switch. They are more colourful on the P5 loom.
This burnt out on mine years ago, so I hadn't noticed it - However, I do recall when I first got the bike, this still worked.
Phew!!
Celebrations all round methinks!! :D (until my next thread...)
