any of you got a set of plans for making a pair of slab yokes?

primarily because there are so very few articles on making them about.Wouldn't you agree Blackjack?

That and I'm too tight to pay for a set :)

It's easy.

You get two pieces of ally.

You drill some holes in them.

Easy.

I hope you're not planning to make that stretch over three pages ... ;)

you could fabricate a pair from say 6mm sheet steel four yoke shape bits and fill in between, using tuned spacers for keeping it all in the right place.

But the drilling is still the critical part.

be aware that a bit of 6082 H30 billet to do it properly wont be cheap, at a guess for decent thickness about 50 quid a piece, Possibly more if your going wide.

to do it properly you really need a boring head in a mill, but others manage with other means. If your doing two Id suggest at least drilling them as a pair, to get the holes concentric.

60 notes for a piece 12"x4"x3". and i'm in the feckin trade!! ally prices are daft at the moment. like everythin else.

and i would give you some plans but my stuffs all cnc bollocks,so i can do the lot with one 20mm cutter!! dont really translate to the shed so well........

Kind of my point really.

You're not likely to get an accurately placed hole with a holesaw, let alone accurately sized, and the finish on the bore isn't going to be conducive to clamping the legs up either...

And that's before you start thinking about the steering stem.

Tell you what though...

It wouldn't be rocket science to make some sheet ally covers for the stock yokes, and Lumiweld them.

Seems like an exercise in futility at those prices for stock

Got some sheet stainless and a mig-jobs a good un.

Might have a bash at fitting mx front end cuz they have good sized alloy yokes that don't half look bad once lumps ground off and polished. That and I have a kmx200 and a kx250 front ends doing nowt :)

Cheers all
