I've built a couple of trikes over the years but both were car engined and quite easy, I've been thinking the past couple of days about doing another but bike engined this time. Whats the deal with running a chain as opposed to shaft drive, I have absolutely no idea how this is done, I know it can be but how? any help greatly appreciated. I'm not fixed on the idea of chain drive, but I don't want to go for a shaftie just for ease. Also is it possible to convert a chain drive to a shaft? I've never heard of this so I may be asking a really stupid question so feel free to ridicule me in anyway you feel necessary :D

Hi Dave,

You can get a bevel box from an old Yam, that will convert chain to shaft, or convert a reliant axle (early Regal ones easiest) I have drawings somewhere for this...

Or if your quick, there is a ready made casing on e-bay

Short chain to VT500 bevel box with sprocket on it, then prop to diff. ;)
