bloody half***s switchs.
fitted 35 amp switchs to my trike to day connected the battery and the horn and rad fan came on at the same time, problem was that the switch was in the off position.
nothing wrong with the wires the sodding switch. this little problem also ment the coil started to smoke as the other switch was from the same sodding place.
disconected the battery and evacurated the garage due to smoke.
got a couple of cheeper switchs 75p from a different place and all was fine except the coil is shagg**d so i need to get a new one .
reckon i should pop down hal*** and chuck the buggers at them and ask for a replacement coil.

That's an odd story.

Firstly I've never herad of a coil "smoking"

and,

why would the other items come on. Can't be just a switch, must be something wrong in the wiring logic.

i agree, a simple on off switch wouldnt produce the symptoms described - they switch either on or off, across the two terminals, not to earth!

nay nay nay i was trying to be clever in not useing a ignition switch and useing a in line switch.
and it was a faulty switch it passed full battery power straight to the coil.
the coil came with the reliant engine so i asume it was the correct one.
i have now used a proper ignition switch.
the switchs are most definatly faulty possably a bad batch?
we live and learn but still the switch should not pass anything in the off position no matter what.
