my other trike that is now oh so nearly finished and ready for MSVA is in here somewhere, all up on the road cost ( so long as it passes first time) will be less than £500, thats everything, donor bike parts paint etc etc
now this one :)
initial outlay £zilch (was completely free)
put the battery on the optimate and its recovered it, fresh fuel, spun it over and it runs
needs a new front end as the forks are shagged, got to unsieze the front brakes, and strip and clean the rear brakes
then MOT and see what happens
could be an on the road total cost of less than £100 now thats budget triking :)

will use this thread to update with pics and info of its progress
unsure what to do, might keep it all matt black and scruffy, or pull it down, change a few bits and bobs, different tank and rear wheels, muddies etc
whatever I do it will be cheap :)

woohoo its alive, cant beleive how easy it started, put jump leads across to wifes car as the battery on the trike is knackered, optimate charger gave it as fine, then changed its mind to weak :(
anyway bodged on some fuel hoses as the ones on there had fallen into about 4 pieces each
choke on, taps to prime, then back to on
engine cranked about once is that, then roared into life, bit louder than standard, its got a marshall deeptone system on it
but engine sounds good
still stunned, thats 6 year old petrol and not even cleaned the carbs out???
but this weekend, carbs off strip and clean just to be sure, fresh fuel and run for a bit, just need fork legs and its time for MOT :)

thats a propper result. well done. just be carefull with the gearbox, xs750's had a notoriously weak box, i think 2nd is first to go out to lunch, but closely followed by 3rd and then the rest. however, the 850 box was strengthened to sort this fault, and as you have an 850 motor spare, its not the end of the world. just something to keep an eye on, and perhaps not be too brutal on the gas in the lower gears. but all round, a right result. it makes me want to go and start putting my own free trike (bmw boxer) back together!!

cheers guys, just spoke with local MOT place, local as in 70 mile round trip LOL
anyway he says that handbrake on 1 rear wheel only is fine for MOT :)
think I just found a complete front end from an XJ that can be made to fit, swapping it for some tools I dont need ( got them for free as well)
oh and just got a nice lathe for free, turning out to be my week this is :)
so fit front end, free up rear brake master cylinder or swap for something else, then off for MOT, too simple this is

Thats a result alright , seems that you are having a spot on week where as myself , things keep going belly up , had today planned out well and ever since walking into the post office this morning to tax one of our cars we have sold and being told how much the tax is now , things are going from bad to worse . I foolishly thought that tax on cars under 1.5 was £100 a year , but its newer than 2001 so goes on emmisions  and the emmisions on this car means its £93.59 for 6 months . What the feck
Anyways , At least its a sales car . Good luck with the MOT .

Devon-Tony,
Are you the king of blag or what? :)
'Jam' & 'Hartleys' spring to mind!
I think some more of us could do with luck like that.

LOL yeah got a lathe for free last week as well, also found a skip with quite a lot of stainless hydraulic tubing still in its wrapper :)
looks like the trikes going to have nice solid stainless brake lines LOL
its all freed up and rolling about nicely, got to get a new front end, forks are shagged and brake calipers need rebuilding etc, got my eye on a fzr front end complete, so see what I can get that for
but it starts and runs like a dream, smokes heavy at the mo, but then the petrol is 6 years old, and not had it running long enough really to clear it out, so that will have to wait till MOT time
total spend thus far is £31 for new rear wheel cylinders, new exhaust gaskets, new plugs and and some spray brake cleaner
