shouldn't have thought so, if it's the same frame you're using (with either a VIN plate or the frame number stamped on it).

Depends if the MOT person says its been 'radically altered' then you need a SVA.

I would have thought that the M.O.T man couldnt care less, about it being altered,if it's roadworthy,it'll pass. I've never had any bother at M.O.T time. :)

the first year the new MOT computers came in the MOT tester didnt even notice that my bike was a gsx not a bandit, so i dont think even when they see the bike each year they'd notice!!

tiz a whole new can of worms being opened rite now.....

mot testers are,as we speak, going on courses to be taught how to recognise a non-standard frame. (i kid you not). anything non-standard will be flagged as 'radically modifed' and require a mvsa test. the only allowable mods are lowering the seat rails, and bolt on hard tails. any change at all to the cradle is 'radically modified'. any chop built from the headstock back, as is the norm, will be un-mot-able within a couple of years, and require a mvsa. it is retrospective. the dvla stance is 'tuff, you should've informed us at the time of modification, the log book says std bike so thats what we want to see'. any mot inspector who doesn't flag a chop as 'radically modified' risks loosing his mot testers licence if the chop is stopped by the police and the dvla list it as std, and the police decide to pursue the matter.
info recieved from a totally trustworthy source from within the 'system'.

the only way i've found round it is to buy a 'Q' plate log book, already listed as 'radicaly modified', and 'clone' your bike onto it.

remember a few years back when mag and the fem were crying out that the eu wanted german style type approval in the uk, and on the whole people here couldnt believe it would get that bad, so no one really complained ????????

This system isnt new, its a previously unenforced one. the points system for radically altered veihicles has been about for past 25 years its just now they are pushing to enforce it. Prob because of all the 7ft Honda C90 chops with gixer motors and usd's you see flying about.

When are they bringing in this rule, and what happens NOW if I send my log book off and change it to altered before this comes in ?

when?, dunno, soonish. pop over to britchopper and ask sooze.
if you do it now, the result is the same, MVSA. this has been the law for many years, they are just training the mot inspectors to enforce an existing law.
