View Full Version : Rounded bolt

Been trying to get the pipes off my bike to paint em, got the front header loosened off no problem, but the last bugger to take the pipes off has rounded one of the allen heads on the rear header. Its a pain to get to as well.

Does anyone have any idea of a way to get the bolt out? Its awkward (pretty impossible I reckon) to get mole grips on it properly, or to cut a slot in it. I'm thinking of Aralditing an old allen key into it to get some grip.

Any words of wisdom would be gratefully accepted! Ta very much.

If you have access to a welder you could tack another bolt to the head good luck

I thought of that, but there's not enough room to weld it. Thats what led me on to thinking about Araldite, but I'm not sure if it'd be strong enough.

Try Quiksteel, stronger, harder and sets faster than Araldite.

Ta very much - I've not heard of that Dougie, will see if I can find some. Is it a Halfords/B&Q type thing?
