Thanks to everyone who offered me advice on Problem (Blowing main 30a Fuse) The problem was a split wire in the Plug connecting fuse box to Reg/rec. thanx to you all once again. It got me more frustrated than walking into a wall with a hard on & my nose hitting the wall 1st. :D

Cheers M8! Just the Tuning problem to sort out now? Think its just coils n leads. Had to re-wire from battery to reg/rec-Nightmare!!!

hopefully back on road soon. Need to find a decent m.c.c in Leeds then who like to ride instead of waffle about it!

Well done mate.

You took the time to investigate the problem logically, rather than just throwing money and parts at it.

The tuning needs may be down to the time it has stood with old fuel in the carbs.

Is it running badly.

Worth a clean through, may have to strip the carbs down coz unleaded forms a gum which is a bugger to remove.

Can't remember right now how to get rid of it.

I think the plug leads are moulded into the coils, but I would certainly change the plugs, air filter, oil and filter.
Also the brake fluid, and drain out the cooling system and refill with pro-cool.

Get hold of a manual.

Hi there, :D would recommend removing and cleaning the mesh oil strainer from the lower(left I think  ) side of the engine. Most people forget to do this, but it`s CRUCIAL,especially if the Vulcan`s been standing for any length of time.If this gets blocked, oil stavation to the crank occurs rapidly :( .If left out,or damaged /extra holes, then swarf can get past  and rapidly block the oil galleries to the crank.

Best stuff i've found for cleaning carbs, jets etc is cola, just leave it soaking for as long as you can, (bout 2 hrs seems to work) wash in sink, then use carb cleaner. Nice an shiny :)

phosphoric acid alloy wheel cleaner works well on carbs (its also in Coke, but wheel cleaner doesnt have all the nasty sugar). wheel cleaner from car shops is usually the cheapest.
