Hi,
The caps for the tank seems to be leaking petrol when nearly full, have had a look at them and they are like the old mini (car) type. I am looking to get lockable caps to fit.
Any Ideas

What are you looking to replace? just the caps or the filler neck as well?
Cap manufacturer 'Direct' lists Mini's from 1959 through to 1999, with a part number of D19618 for the locking cap.

Just looking to replace the caps, with lockable ones and ones that don't make your nether regions smell of petrol.

Hi Titus,
Have you got a reserve tank higher than your main tank, if you have and are filling it from the reserve it will overflow the main tank.
I had this problem with my trike when I first got it.

Any decent auto parts shop will stock Direct caps, although you could try these:

Hi,
No reserve tank as other cap just dummy with breather although checked that one and one of the clips was missing so any fuel coming out through breather was also leaking.

the government is trying to help you out here.
yes, what you thought was a superficial fault on your trike has attracted the attentions of the problem solvers in HM government, !!!!!
they propose to help out by making sure that petrol is so ferking expensive that you cant ever afford to fill it right up !! :D :D :D

Ummm....
Those appear to be Fat Bobs or a Quickbob, tiny picture, couldn;t tell
They also appear to be Fat Bobs (or indeed a Quickbob) mounted at a stupid angle.
Which would explain why the caps leak, they're supposed to have fuel sloshing around an inch underneath them while they're mounted horizontally...
The caps probably aren't leaking as such, they're vented to allow air into the tank as you use up the fuel.
Normally on a bike the left hand cap is non vented so that it doesn't leak while it's stood on the side stand.
Is it two seperate tanks (FAT bobs) or one tank (Quickbob)?
If it's fat bobs, there should be a link pipe at the top of the tank to connect the left and right ones. This is so both tanks can use the vent on the right hand cap.
If that's what you've got, fit two non vented caps, disconnect the vent hose, fit two seperate ones and leave them open to the air. With the tanks at that angle, that might work.
You might want to run the two breather hoses up up by the top yoke. Think dirt bikes.....
