I bloody wouldn't unless it's something they were into.
White stretch limos and Porsche Cayennes must be passé now then.
Prom.
Pah...
Bloody americanised nonsense.

we took a lad to his prom couple of years ago. bloody awful it was queuing for ages to get into the bloody hotel, in the blazing heat. Made lad's day though, so was worth it. :)

A few years back. load of us took a friends daughter to her prom, i arrived early and done all her make up as she is a goth, and i've done some theatrical make up in my time, and then she jumped on her uncles trike, and we all followed and she had an 'entourage' of 15 bikes escorting her to prom, a few others picked up lads on way into hotel grounds in tux's, it was brilliant and made hers and their night, and we made the local news.

Got to agree with Taff, never new anything like it till I moved here. Now I got 5 boys. 2 proms down and the third on Friday, something like £500 plus to hire a pissing Limo to show off for 5 mins then its get pissed time in the corner and puke up on the expensive clothes you,ve just bought for that one night that,ll never get worn again and to top it all I now gotta take a friday night off so I can stand in a car park and wave em all off.
Still. I guess in the morning they,ll come and say thanks mam and dad I promise to be a good lad from now on and I will do as I`m told and not answer you back and help round the house and not be a total lippy gob****e.........NOT.

Proms well
My eldest daughter had one 2 years ago
and i dont tend to like american trends, as they dont seem to work well
HOWEVER in this case, it actually give the kids something to be proud and aim for, rather than a trip to the local park witha can of stella.
it was organised well, and yes my daughter turned up in a limo, but a load of them rented one, and the cost wasn't bad once split between a load of them

ok dressing up posh aint my thing, bt it did give the kids some pride, and i was amazed how how even the chavs attitude changed once dressed like a penguin

But i do think that it will go to far, as people will want to ge one up on others, and end up getting silly
