Hopfully an easily answerd one, this!
Does a GSXR1100/1200 Bandit sprocket cover fit a '91 GSXR750 engine? Need to convert mine from cable to hydraulic clutch. Any ideas? Was the early 750 ever made with hydraulic clutch?
Expect plenty more questions like this as the project gathers speed ( not literally tho :( )

Hiya
All the early (slabside) gixer 750s were clutch cable. IIRC - they converted to hydraulic for the slingshots / K model around 88/89. So I would say that no, the clutch cover would be different. It is possible to do a hyrdaulic conversion though. Can I ask why you want to convert? Weak fingers? lol ;) :p

Weak fingers, pah! :p Never had that complaint before.
No, that just would have been an easy route to solve my dilemma. Gixer 750 is in a Z1R frame with renthals fitted, so the clutch cable is too short now due to longer frame and the bar risers. That and I don't currently have the sprocket cover so to kill off two problems I was gonna buy a later cover and convert to hydraulic but you've pissed on that idea, thankyouverymuch.
How easy is it to convert the cable sprocket cover with a hydraulic slave? Or just get a longer cable made up, probably less hassle.

Longer clutch cables usually arent too hard to get hold of. Try giving bikes trikes n stuff a call on 01733 896002 - say gix 11 sent you. They're very helpful and I'm sure they can source an oversized cable for you. They also deal with mail order so no worries there.
The hydraulic conversion does make the bike look tidier IMHO .... I was only tekkin the p1ss about weak fingers coz I considered a hydraulic conversion on an EFE I had with heavy duty clutch springs and no adjustable span ..... it was an absolute git in slow moving traffic!
For unparalleled advice and tips re messin about with Suzukis, try www.oldskoolsuzuki.info Very helpful guys (and a couple of lasses) who between them know all you would want to know (and some stuff you wouldnt) about the old rice burners .... worth checking out ;) See you on there?

i saw someone who had used a back brake master cylinder as a clutch cable arm slave cylinder..
i.e.
lever on handlebar > pipe > back brake cylinder > lever on clutch / engine
or get the drill out and make one fit..

Minxy has already gave ya the answer to gsxr compatability, old skool suzuki.
Sorry minxy got to make you wrong. the v early slabby 750's had hydraulic clutch, mine included, lol. think they put cable onto the first slingshots to cut costs or summat.
I think brian might have put his slabby 1 onto his bandit lump. not sure though.
But as the minxster said old skool suzuki has all the answers you want.
Some1 on there has converted cable to hydraulic too, think uklee might have the answers for that 1.
Register on there and put a post about it m8.

No actually - it was an 1100H with a 750K motor. With a cable. It gets more and more confusing ...... I give up.

Oh, how easy it is to bring havoc and confusion in the land! :) Sorry guys, got yer heads scratchin' now, but thanks for the links.
The Bible According to Haynes (which is never wrong, oh no), states the pre srad 750's were all cable, and 1100's were all hydraulic. So have I settled the argument or added to it? I think the latter. Have got Old Skool in my fave sites list but never thought to try 'em at the time.
Note to self - before posting engage brain, engage brain, engage brain... ...brian's engaged, since when?????

Well judging by that statement haynes are a bunch of w@nkers.
The gsxr range first started with the 750 slabby which was hydraulic, i got 1.
Then i think to cut costs/weight they done cable but i think brought hydraulic back with the 1100 slingshots.
M8 on old skool found this, any good to ya?

Looks a neat bit of kit, might work on the gsxr.
Some1 has converted a cable to hydraulic conversion on there, i will try and find the post for ya.
