View Full Version : XB9R Clutch - will a Sportster one do?

Hi All

I think the clutch is on the way out, of course I'm expecting it to be a bit on the 'Oh holy feck, I only wanted a clutch not the whole company' price.

As mine is a special and its not pushed as much as a normal Buell, my questions are:

i. Is a Sportster clutch cheaper than a 2004 Buell XB9R?

ii. Will a HD clutch fit in me Buell?

Thanks

P.

Can you not just replace the plates?

If so there is loads of aftermarket stuff available.

Not sure,

Hopefully I'll find out at the weekend. Been told even the plates every expensive...

Well I'm in the middle of a rebuild of an '82 shovel and am replacing the plates in the clutch.

I think they cost me about £45 for aftermarket ones.

Yours may well be a bit more I'm not sure if they've done anything to the clutch in the Buell but I wouldn't have thought they would be stupidly expensive.

If they're standardish sportster ones they shouldn't be too bad.

Cheers,
Rob.

FYI:

I met up with a Buell expert over the weekend, Good bit is my clutch is fine, bad bit is that my lat tension bar along with the engine mounts is not enough, engine moves under pressure but I have an evil plan to fix it.....

Anyhow, it seems that Buell clutches are not the same as Sportsters, thought you might like to know.
