A mate of mine has just bought a K reg Sportster. I took it for a run and although the engine runs and sounds fine. There is an orrible grating noise coming from primary chaincase. Goes away when clutch is pulled in or when it is stationary. Its the first time I have ridden a sportster as my ride is an evo softail and it feels totally different. Any ideas or is it an orrible trait. ps Glad I dont own it lol. Reminds me of my old bonnie :D donovan

Not a Sportster expert, but simple things first, have you checked the adjustment of the chain and oil level? Maybe the tensioner needs a look.

I know, that's why I posted the direct link, they must use the url history to stop people stealing links from their website :)

and on click on the service link and then right click on the PDF links.
