products such as Ultraseal!

I had a new front tyer fitted to trike today; the fitter guy was not happy to see that a Anti-puncture liquid had been inserted into front tyer. He said that this stuff is okay for a car wheel and tyer but a deffo no, no1 for bike tyer's. He went on to say that it keeps the tyers cold, also when bike is stationery the stuff run's down to lowest point; when bike is riden the stuff can throw the wheel off blance................

Is this right? If so why do the guy's who sell it are selling it at bike meets, shows, etc...?
Catch you all later, take care and ride safe.

PS This question as been posted on another site, just interested in view's. :)

Not a problem I have ever encountered with Ultraseal.

Quite the reverse.

Has got the Mrs home many a time in the early hours from work where she would have otherwise been stranded.

They just don't like having to clean the wheels out.
However,
the old green stuff was a bit nasty.

I've been using Ultraseal for a couple of years now, so has my son.
We used to use the green stuff, but that was useless, lost all the air and gunge through the smallest holes.

We've not noticed any balance or handling probs.
Son pulled a nail out, no loss of air pressure.

Dunno about it keeping tyre cold, suppose this could be a prob on a fireblade or some other rocket.

Tyre fitters don't like any tyre sealant cuz it's a mess to change a tyre.
I always tell them before they start, if they start moaning, I'll go elswhere.

What did they say on the other site?

i have been using slime heavy duty for a year (its cheaper than ultra seal about £6 a tyre) in a gsxr 1100 and have personally tested it to 160mph (it was on a track officer honest) with no ill effects such as tyres being out of balance ect :)

Used a tyre sealant, can't remember the name, when i went to Faro. I didn't fancy being stuck on the side of the road in a country where I don't speak the language. We ran two up, fully loaded both ways at speed exceeding 100mph. made no difference to the Duke's (Ducati 900 Monster) handling in any way. Was still in there when I sold it.

i must admit i've only used it in trikes. i could hear a noise from my front wheel which turned out to be one of those twisted large headed galvanised nails.
i pulled it out and nothing. i did however put a new tyre on just after though.

Thank you for your comments, input!

I got a mate (a biker) who sell's installs a stuff called Punctureseal.
He is going to install it in the new tyre next week. I am take the trike on a run, on different roads, motorway's, and at different speed's, etc... Before it's installed; I will let you know if I notice any difference.

i thought tyre products like this were purely intended as a 'get you home' measure? i know that i go nuts if i have to repair a puncture on a tyre full of goo

Not now according to what I've been told, techknowledgy as moved on! The stuff now is good up 150 mph, some new stuff is being tested that will run up 250 mph? That's according to Punctureseal people! When the guy did my tyre yesterday, which had, Ultraseal compound in it; there wer'nt hardley any mess to speak of!

No, the gooey stuff dosn't stop the odd pound getting out because of 'valve lift.'
I use metal valve caps with little rubber seals, that keeps the air in.
