we used to have a kit which used electrolysis and since we were an electronics company we could fix it whenever it broke. A guy who did stuff for his car owned it and we were kind enough to fix it for him for free so when he bought a new one he gave us his old one. We didn't really have much use for it but it was fun to play with. Takes a bit of practising to get it right with no air bubbles or pitting, and to get the right level of coating etc, but if you practise on bolts and flat bits of old metal you'll soon get the hang of it. It can be a bit messy though..!

cor I'd love one though, every bit of metal in my house would suffer from me playing with the plater ha ha

our next toy HAS to be a MIG though..!

Thanks Animal. Some very good info on that site.

Looking at the prices though it would probably cheaper to pay an expert.

I would like to buy the kit though for practice for the future but I would suffer the same as Doro, chrome bike, chrome car, chrome house, chrome children, chrome rottweiler etc etc.http://www.100-biker.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

I think the missus would be a bit peeved if I dropped her in too for good measure !! http://www.100-biker.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

if you are doing frames and heavier stuff get an arc instead its cheaper and does a better weld (needs a little more skill tho) but if you do get a mig try the gasless wires they are great and you dont have to sort out a gas bottle :)
