Gawds, I'm having a bit of a quanduary at the moment - I really can't decide whether I should buy back the GT from the insurance company and do it up with the change, or just let the feckers have it (providing I can get some more cash out of them).

My problem is, that I can't see me getting a decent bike for less than £500 - though there are a couple of XJ750s and the like on Ebay but there's no guarantee is there? I know what's wrong with the GT and have got a friendly neighbourhood bike repairer who does MOT's so I don't have to go too far for them (down to the end of the road, near the cliff!) And after buying Mrs R's bike for £700 and all the hassle we had with that, you can't be sure can you?

I've got loads of parts to use, thanks to Dracken and one or two of the guys in LXIX (including the spare engine I've got in the shed that still has all the stator and that intact). I've also found some other bits on ebay.

All I would need to complete the beast would be shockers, footpegs, a headlight, a tank (the one I've got on there has got a dent in the side) and a seat. The exhaust and shocks only have a scrape on them, I suppose that could be filled in with liquid metal (got some of that) and the whole thing sprayed black...

What do you think?

Claim the salvage and do it up Mitch, theres loads of GT750's in the breakers so you should be able to get the bits you need quite cheaply.

I agree, get the cash, less buy back fee and re-make the bike.

You need a quad , with big rubber bumpers , and a big rubber inflatable suit. It all needs to be a dayglo green or orange , with big flashing lights. :D
Then you might remain intact for the next 12 months.

See what you mean there sor!!

I might be calling on you yet Mr C - there may be a couple of bits that I need to get hold of and only a man (using that term very loosely of course!!) like yerself can help.

I'm with the new bike new woes way of thinking!! Much easier to fettle bike you know every bolt than start pratting around sorting someone elses idea of "repairs" out.
Biased Moi?Do I own a Matt Black GT750?Guilty as charged.Although it is matt black and looks like a pile of poo, it works great! All the fasteners are stainless and the tyres are round-how cool is that!!
Buy it back! You know it makes sense :D
