Yes folks, we are lucky enough to have Chris from the MSVA office registered as a member now, he has a specific thread in the workshop area where you can post queries and hopefully get a offical reply.
Please DO NOT use the thread to ask silly questions that you would know if you were not to tight to buy the manual(£35) its for specific queries on interpretation etc!

Piss!........
Here's the proof ;
Changes to B1 Entitlement.
Before October 2000, a person who passed a motorcycle test was granted a full sub-category B1 licence (lightweight car, motor quadricycle, motor tricycle) as an additional entitlement with the full A (motorcycle) licence. The Driving Standards Agency, in their 'Safer Motorcycling' consultation, proposed that in future successful motorcycle test candidates would be issued with a provisional rather than a full B1 licence. 49 of the 57 consultees who commented on the issue were in favour of this proposal, including safety, police and training interests. There were representations against from companies selling lightweight cars, the National Trike Register and MAG UK, suggesting that riders might want to use their licence to ride tricycles. There were suggestions that separate licence categories should be introduced, but changes to motor vehicle licence categories would require a change to EU law. Ministers decided to implement the proposal, which affected very few motorcyclists as over 90% held a full car licence (which continues to give full sub-category B1 entitlement). Nor did it affect anybody already holding a full motorcycle licence, who retained full B1 entitlement. The changes were implemented during October 2000. What the above did mean though is that if you didn't have a full car or bike licence before October 2000 and wish to either trike your bike or buy one you will now have to apply for a provisional car licence and if you wish to carry passengers then pass the test. This is very unfair as a car driver with no experience of bikes can get straight onto certain types of trike, with passengers, and ride away. Also if you're forced onto a trike due to a disability or a smash you'll have to apply for a provisional car licence even though you've been riding bikes for years!
You can ride a trike on a provisional car licence, ie. with "L" plates, but you must be 17 ( or 16 if you are getting Disability Living Allowance at the higher rate for the mobility component ) and the trike must have only one seat; the rider's seat. If you do wish to carry passengers, your trike can have extra seats, but you must carry a qualified bike or car licence holder with you at all times; this is also dependant, of course, on which sort of trike your accompanying full licence holder is qualified to ride. :(

dude what is your fucking problem, you were asked nicely to stop promoting goods on the site, now if you had 1/2 a brain you would have used the customary intro route and opened a virtual bar, instead you spam your first post then go off on one when pat asked you nicely to stop, even then you didn't take the hint then get the arse when everyone retaliated to your inane warblings.and for your info this site is provided by pat(who incidently isnt a faggot as theres no gravy) ,so if pat says you cant spam then you cant spam, your now spamming other threads,so what do you expect when everyone rounds on you. geez if only you could digest the info thats been written

is it manditry that a number plate should have the name of the dealer who made up the number plate on it?
I know the obvious reasons why the dealer/factors name should be on the plate, to enable tracing etc, but on vehicles in general does the dealers stamp have to be there

I have heard, but not had it confirmed that trike MOT now requires that parking lights operate front and rear with the key removed from the ignition.
Can anyone confirm or point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

I've read and read the trike laws and regulations and there is absolutely no mention of anything to do with 'parking lights' at all. There is simply no requirement for parking light on trikes.
I don't know who has told you this but they either haven't got a clue what they are talking about or they are just winding you up.
The only mention about anything to do with parking requirements is to the parking brake.

As far as I've been told if you passed your bike test before2001 and have the B1 entitlement on your license you can ride a trike on it.

That's spot on Tony. As long as your licence has got a full class 'B' on it or clas 'B1', which is a sub category of the full class 'B', you can ride a trike without having to take another test.
As you pointed out, in 2001 the DVLA cocked things up again and stopped issueing the 'B1' class with full bike licences. If you got yours before then you should be ok. If it's not actually shown on your licence and you did pass your test before the 2001 change I understand you just have to ask for it to be added.
Hope that helps.
Chris. :D
