I've got this dilemma, When the insurance finally gets sorted out on my bike (yeah right!!!! I hear you all shout) I'd like to replace my clocks for something a bit less square - only problem is, I like all the features that the bike's got (Accurate Speedo, Rev counter, fuel guage and voltmeter - OK so's I likes me creature comforts and hate it on Mrs R's bike when I can't tell how far I've been before I or she runs out of petrol! :( ).
Is there any way I can incorporate all that lot into some different housing, or would i have to make do with a trip meter and different clocks? I know GT's have got a 19" wheel (I think) so the speedo would have to work well... decisions decisions!

The ones on the 1100 injection in the garage , have all the features that you stated , and they're Kawa to boot .I know the gpz has an 18 inch front hoop but , isn't it more to do with ratios than size ?
Any way getting back to the clocks , they are rounded with an offset , what I mean is the speedo is bigger than the tacho/voltmeter.
Maybe worth looking into , the breakers yards must be full of '83-on unitracks like this one.

Dunno what you mean babes, it all adds to the excitement of riding having no idea when the petrol's gonna run out or what revs yur at. Mind you the back brakes not working was somthing I could live without given the size of the hills i go down to get to uni!!!:D

I know the GPz750 has a smaller wheel as well, am I right in saying that the drive for the speedo is on the front wheel anyway? And that determines the ratio?

Yes , it's on the front wheel , as for how the ratio is determined ?
I haven't got the foggiest !! It's all to do with things of different sizes turnin' each other , but after that I need the destruction manual !!
Sorry can't help anymore than that. :(

You can, if your carefull, spin the back of the lip off them R&R cheapo clocks in a lathe and open them up, and transplant some original oem internals in place of the garbage they come with as stock, and bond them back together. Next time you get a look at a set of clocks outside a console, note how the actual mechanism is pretty small and its onlythe facia's that are huge. You can also cut the very bottom off them, just have to be creative (and carefull you dont mess up their looks in the process).
Personally, i fink push bike speedo's are much more reliable ;)
