That sounds a bit wide for the rim Yoda. From what I remember the 445mm is the width of the tyre, so thats almost 18 inches wide. The 50 is the percentage of the width, so you're talking 9 inches on top of and underneath the rim giving you a total diameter of 33 inches. I might be wrong on that bit. It might be 9 inches added to your 15" so a diameter of 24 inches.

Are these for the new trike or are you taking up Formula One Wheelchair racing.

i think the 445 is the width in millimetres and the 50 is the profile in millimetres obviously the r 15 stands for itself

Hi guys,

The 445 is the section width in mm, the 50 is the aspect ratio it is the height of the tyre sidewall expressed as a % of section width the R means radial construction and the 15 is the rim diameter "code" although it is actually inches they call it a code because this kind of tyre sizing is called metric.

Yoda are you sure the width is 445? cant find that in any tyre manuals Ive got. The widest car tyre in 50 series on a 15 rim is 305 which is recomended a 10j (10 ince wide rim) but will fit 8.5j to 11j.

There is a 345/35 R 15 for which the recomended rim is 12j

Hope this helps more than it confuses :)

ok speaking from my american car customising days.
you would be better off fitting those onto a 15" x 15" which are available from that company.

but i believe you already have the wheels.
i would say best not to.
besides the balloning you'll end up with. another prob will be weight.
with a front engined trike you have less weight on the rear than a rear engined one.
that weight is spread out over the contact patch of the tyre, add to that the lower tyre pressure you will be running and that patch gets larger.
so you will be putting down very little weight per sq inch of contact patch.
even a slightly wet road could aquaplane you.(no fun on a motorway when you facing the wrong way) :(
i've run camaro's with 21.5" x 15s mickey t's and hosier tyres and yes they look good but handle like ****e.
in practical terms you don't need more than 185's on your trike. but yes i like 300's myself.
but even on a low slung vw trike life can get interesting with them in the wet. and as i said i put down a lot more weight than you at the rear.
i would recommend you aim lower yoda. plus tyres that wide due to the low pressure you'll be running will wear like hell on both outer edges.
plus wide tyres dont hurt as much when you run over someones foot :D

yep it deffo 445's
i was enquiring after 365's and someone said these would fit, but i was sceptical
i can get 375's which i believe should be ok on a 12" wide rim (can someone confirm this too :) )

i aint to bothered about handling as i aint a speed freak (as long as i can do 165mph in first then thats fine)

its gunna be a bit of form over function in the rear wheel/tyre dept

375's will be fine but make that the absolute maximum for 12"wheels ;).
also remember that those wheels are really meant for rwd vehicles. so usually have loads of offset. make sure you have some substantial wheel studs fitted, if using studs.

(wanders off to see if my fender mould will go as wide as 400mm :D )
