Reliant Disk Brake Conversion

Any of you guys had any experience with upgrading reliant axels to disk brakes ?

I am looking for parts required and patterns for brackets etc.

Any links or info greatly appreciated

Why?

The drums give adequate braking for the axle/vehicle weight that can be carried on a Reliant Axle as used in a trike.

I would rather fit an independant suspension/driveshaft and diff carrier with Jag inboard discs, if it is purely an aesthetic exercise.

Reliant axles are very thin walled and will not take a great deal of load without sufficient plating and mounting points. Many a trike I have seen runs the risk of the axle coming adrift.

I want to remove the ugly-as-sin reliant hubs

The axel has sufficent bracing and triangulation to allow the conversion so I am not worried about that, but thanks for the advice ;o)

i've posted this on my website(it is not my work though)
the differences i made to my setup is that i used linked brakes using mk3 granada rear calipers and adjustable bias valve..

drum brakes are perfectly adequate but if you fancy discs,inboard outboard, whatever. as long as its a safe set up go for it.
if you are on dial up be patient as to enable them to be read ok i kept the size and quality high

just been reading some of the emails on the forum can anybody advise on which reliant axle would be most suitable. i understand there are three or four reliants about (models) is there a big difference any help would be appreaciated ,does anybody have any ideas on how much i would be paying for an axle .mustbemad :D

from there you need to work out what ratio will best suit your tyre diameter
