my girders stopped working over the weekend but cant for the life of me find out why ???????
if ya hit the front brake and rock the bike they go up n down as they should - but on the road they are rock solid (Gives interesting ride on corners tho)
HAve got the bike jacked up at the mo - and everything seems to be ok - but will dismantle after our rally next weekend.
any advise much appriciated - as i will start getting rally withdrawal syptoms in a week or so :)

Nellie who is at the next desk and....
Do you have a hydraulic damper ? That controls the spring on your girders, it may have an airlock or something.

not knowing the design of yer girdies, it sounds to me like either a worn bush, or summit has got twisted, and you only notice the problem when the forks are under load.....another sugestion might be a buggered spring...so when the forks are under load the weak/buggered spring is on full load.....best thing to do is get some one in a car to drive ahead of you and see if they can see what the girdles are doing....

do you have what looks like a rear motorcycle shock on the girder?

the shock is a haglen shock designed for girders - it has worked flawlessly for the last couple of years.
have stripped the front end down all bushes are in very good order but have replaced them - there was still grease in the pivot holders which i have cleaned out and replaced
the bolts are all true and the girders are not bent
as i said woks fine at standstill - but is rock solid when ya take her down the road (weird)

ok no idea what a haglen shock is.
but i had a similar prob with a girder a few years ago.
the problem was the shocks internal valve it was not allowing the shock to return to it's full length fast enough.
so although by holding the brake and rocking the bike it seemed ok.
on the road the shock was becoming depressed by the constant motion
and could not fully extend fast enough so it was rigid.
think that might be what you are experiencing.

We use a lot of girders at work and they dont move either.. mind you lift motors and gearboxes are usually sitting on them as well :o
