First off, thanks for all the great advise on my rear axle question. FYI that new yellow top engine I fitted over the weekend works a treat!! I've had to use the old diaphram clutch off my old engine tho... just could not solve the problem of a continuous knocking while applying the clutch with the one that was on the yellow top engine......

Anyways.... I've visited the racing site mentioned elsewhere on this site looking for a nice inlet manifold suited for two su carbs for the reliant 850cc engine but cant find anything.

Sooo I thought I'd just ask here just in case anyone knows off the top of their head if there is such an inlet manifold.

Thanks.

The yellow rocker box engine should be the "high compression" engine unless some-one put a yellow rocker box on a normal engine.
It should have extra cooling fins cast into the engine block.
If you get the axle to go with the engine it WILL FLY!
no you cannot fit (as far as i am aware) twin carbs to the reliant engine.
unless you get them amde!

I've found a Rialto 2 axle "flying" axle for myself and as I'm not a selfish person I know where there's another one going for £35.00 in South Yorkshire if anyone wants to collect it.

Hi mate,
if you send me your email I'll send you some pic's of twin carbs manifolds for the reliant engine they were made by LIEGE. When you see them you will be surprised at there simplicity well thats what I thought, I'm going to have a go at making them as trying to buy them will be hard or even find them is going to be hard as well, so out come's the metal making toys. I've got 2x SU's in the shed so thats halfed the problem and when you see the two manifold pipes you will see thats all it is really, you just need templates for the manifold end and templates for the carb side. There is a bit more to it but you will get the jist of it when you see them
cheers ALAN

could you not mount a twin choke webber on the motor? youd have the advantage of keeping the low end power of the reliant engine and have a bit more go when you open the taps a bit!

I'd go twin choke webber personaly, the twin su set up are over complicated for there own good and on the set that i ran in a kit car they needed constant balancing and feckling , Webbers are hassle free the more you twist the more juice you get, and you don,t have to carry around that fiddly screwdriver or find that elusive and expensive manifold conversion. Also with the manifold off using a dremmel grinder smooth off the insides of the bores and remove the cast marks from the inlet manifold this adds at least another 5bhp.
