restricting it is one thing. restricting it to exactly 33bhp is another.
i just derestricted an nvt650. that had what were basically washers in the inlet rubbers.
so maybe you could try that on a cx.
i'm unsure how the cx's inlets fit to the head if bolted on then you could make a metal gasket with about a 20mm hole in the centre.

i looked into this but didnt get very far a hile back,if you visit the fi international site there some info on thier http://www.fiinternational.com/restrictors1.asp
but from memory the bike has to be fitted by a shop with an approved kit(to stop you doing it yourself (bastids))
the supplier of the kits only issue one set of paperwork per kit so if you buy a bike with a kit fitted and the paperworks missing they wont reissue the paperwork also the paperwork is registered to one bike and they wont transfer the paperwork to another bike(just so you have to buy another kit)
although i do know that suzuki supply restrictor kits for basndits at i think £50 a time whereas fiinternationals kits are £130 plus fitting
thing may of change lately hth

As I suspected....just an excuse for a) more money and b) more bloody hassle.
Thanks again.

I can't image wanting to actually reduce the power of a maggot. Just buy a cheap MZ if it's only temporary. After that the CX will feel like a 'Blade...!

Al, ever thought he might have a cx, he needs to restrict it for the paper work, then derestrict it after he legal? Cx maggots go forever and are easilt maintained on an almost zero budget...unlike the Vt that replaced them....just out of curiosity, haveing never held a bike licence in my life, hiw long have you got to ride a 33hp bike for before being allowed summit real?

Yeah sure; but the hundreds of pounds it will cost to 'officially' derestrict is just a waste of beer money...!

doubtfull.. The Cx is the worlds most useless bike had one for a year and a half when they were new it also had the dubious reputation of being the most crashed bike i've had since 83 when i got rid of it.Well it blew up on the motorway oil pump packed in.. never will have a Honda again :D

your so right, I had a Honda Cg125. and the con rod seized to the piston, so them fire blades must be total she'ite too......your never going to ride a Honda again...thats the statement frem a prick!

to restrict a maggot to 33 bhp you could always bolt a turbo on!!
Seriously though, two years on a restricted licence would seem like eternity on that bike!

out of interest, anyone know what power the japan only cx400 motor put out? a few did get imported, and they were a cx 500 motor sleved down to 400cc, but otherwise identical. and as they were low on grunt as a 500, i can only guess that the 400 was even lower, and any breakers with a motor wouldnt want shedloads of cash for one, as who ever heard of someone wanting to make their bike slower?
