I've been out of the loop for so long......are tyres not supposed to be round?

Depending on where you are. Here in the South we get "Sidecar" tyres for the front of trikes so that you get a squarer and bigger footprint on the road.

It really helps with the steering "flop" that a few seem to suffer from. Apparently.
I wouldn't know, I don't ride one.

Meant to say we get them from Watling Tyres.

Metzler also do a square profile tyre, which is much better on the front IMHO. Its much softer so stickier. By the way its called the Block K. They do another called the Block C, but I've never used one.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that the Triple Duty Tyre is only available in 19". Great tyres though

Sidecar Triple Duty
Sidecar Triple Duty Universal. Its full name is a bit of a mouthful and although especially suited to the front wheel it can be used in any position on a sidecar outfit. It looks the business and does the business, simple as that.

yes this particular trike started life as a cx500c
they were fitted with a 19"

will check with cambrian tyres they just up the road from me
they supply most of the country with mc tyres

have checked
avon do a square profile in 18" but it is recomended as a rear fitment

bridgestone L303 3.50 x 18" is recomended as a sidecar tyre but is not really a square profile.

price is good though

Apparently, they fit an Austin 7 which is why they're still made. Not many combos use them nowadays

yes.... :p

basically its cos plane tyres are still cross ply tyres, and you cant make square tyres with cross ply.

Umm, I thought you could only get cross-ply tyres for cars up until the 80's - I can remember Public Service announcements during TV adverts telling you not to mix cross-ply and radial tyres on your car

true.. plane tyre technology is BEHIND bike / car tech. theres not the demand for grip / feel etc, just safety.
